Masthead – Tatianna Kalb

Tatianna Kalb (She/Her)

Drama Editor

Winter 2025 – present

Tatianna Kalb is a writer and editor who was born to a Colombian-American family in Miami but raised in London in the UK. She received a BFA in Drama and Classical Civilizations from New York University, and recently completed an MLitt in Creative Writing at the University of Glasgow. A long-time classicist and creative, she is looking to a future in Comparative Literature in order to combine the skills gained from both her academic and literary backgrounds.

Inspired by her own relationship with her second language, Tatianna is always looking for
connections between words and nature. Her poetry tries to capture the language of the sea, and her prose searches for memories in unknown places. A chronic yearner herself, she is most attracted to writing that seeks out something bigger than itself, which would probably explain why she’s always been so attracted to mythology and the fantastic. She believes that the voice of an author can be heard in all sorts of ways, be it a singular description of the way the author views a simple object, or just the line break they used in the middle of a poem.

Tatianna’s literary inspirations come from all types of media, spanning from the golden age of anime to classic Latin American authors from the 20th century. Some of her all-time favorite works include Sophocles’ Ajax, Banana Yoshimoto’s Kitchen, and the Percy Jackson series by Rick Riordan. Other authors she loves are Leigh Bardugo, Celia Fremlin, Madeleine Miller, and Evelio Rosero. In short, there is nothing she likes more than a good bit of prose with descriptions so palatable you can practically sink your teeth into them.
