Winter 2023 – present

Lara Morgan is a poet, theatre maker, and artist from Aotearoa/New Zealand. In 2020 she completed her Bachelor of Arts in Creative Writing and Theatre Studies at Massey University, New Zealand, completed a Diploma in Library and Information Studies in 2022. They are currently working towards a Postgraduate Diploma in Museum Studies.

Lara has been doing theatre since 2008, occasionally competing in the Manawatu Performing Arts Competitions. She joined the Massey University Drama Society shortly after starting university. They took part in a variety of shows through Massey’s Drama Society and her undergraduate degree- ranging from acting, producing, stage managing, graphic design, and writing.

They typically like to use writing as a method to explore her own identity. However, they enjoy reading poetry collections and plays, especially those written by her friends. Her writing and art has been featured in many small magazines including Overcommunicate, The Jupiter Review, Sunstroke Magazine, Powders Press, Messy Misfits Club, and Catchwater Magazine.

When she’s not writing, studying, or acting alongside her insanely talented friends, she can be found folding origami behind the desk and shelving books at a local community library. Or they can be found making collages, doing calligraphy, occasionally doodling on walls, and yearning for the chance to use a printing press again.

They have many ongoing projects they are working on. Ranging from her first attempt at a full-length stage script, a fantasy graphic novel series, and a couple of poetry collections celebrating her friends, exploring her cultural identity, and her personal journey.
